Courses within SBGI’s Relational Somatic Psychology Certificate Program may also be taken as a more scholarly course of study that includes additional reading and writing assignments for students who wish to earn graduate credit towards a Master of Arts (MA) or doctoral (PhD) degree at Santa Barbara Graduate Institute. (Each week-long segment offered within the certificate program equals 2.5 quarter units.)

In order to receive academic credit towards a graduate degree, students must first apply and be accepted into the Somatic Psychology Department, Professional Specialty Program (PSP) format at SBGI.

Students enrolled in SBGI’s Professional Specialty Program (PSP) are required to complete a minimum of 5 units (two courses of 2.5 units each) in the Relational Somatic Psychology Certificate Program at Esalen. The student may choose any of the courses (in any sequence) currently offered within the certificate program. Academic advising is recommended for assistance in making course selections. Each course at Esalen consists of 25 hours of teaching (2.5 quarter units) spread out over five days of teaching. Each course starts Sunday: 8:30 PM and completes Friday 11:30 AM.
