The Relational Somatic Psychology Certificate Program offered at Esalen Institute consists of a series of courses inspired by Santa Barbara Graduate Institute’s somatic psychology curriculum. The certificate program is made up of a rotating series of practice oriented and academically sound Relational Somatic Psychology courses. These courses are generally taught by SBGI professors, teaching staff, or affiliates. They are designed for interested professionals, psychological, health, and body-mind practitioners, as well as students and interns.
Each course at Esalen consists of 25 hours of teaching spread out over five days of teaching. Each course starts Sunday: 8:30 PM and completers Friday 11:30 AM.
To Register: All prospective students fill out the online application (see link below) and receive an SBGI approval response via email. Applicant then contacts Esalen to complete the registration process and pay all housing and Esalen related costs for the week.
SBGI Students must contact the SBGI Registrar at least two weeks prior to the start of the course in order to complete SBGI student registration and become eligible to receive graduate credit.
Three Ways To Take The Certificate Program:
1. General participants. Individuals who sign up and participate for personal or professional reasons receive a certificate for each individual course completed.
2. Certificate students. Individuals who take a series of courses as a form of personal study or continuation of professional development may earn a foundational, intermediate or advanced certificate. Completion of six courses (150 hours) qualifies the participant for the Foundational Certificate, completion of ten courses (250 hours) qualifies for the participant for Intermediate Certificate, completion of fourteen courses (350 hours) qualifies the participant for the Advanced Certificate.
3. SBGI matriculated students. For SBGI students enrolled in the PSP format, two certificate courses are a minimum requirement. SBGI students receive 2.5 units of course credit after fulfilling additional academic course requirements. In addition to registering with Esalen, students must register for each course with the SBGI Registrar at least two weeks prior to the start date of the course in order to receive graduate credit.
